About this tool
Free Online Silence Remover & Trimmer
Automatically strip silence from the beginning and end of audio files. Batch process entire folders with adjustable threshold and padding controls. Perfect for cleaning up recordings, sound effects and audio deliveries.
How it works
Drop your audio files, set a silence threshold (in dB) and optional padding (in milliseconds), then trim. The tool detects where audio content starts and ends, removes the silent portions and outputs clean files. All processing runs locally in your browser.
Use cases
- Clean up recordings with dead air at the start or end
- Standardise sound effect files for libraries and game audio
- Prepare audio deliveries with consistent head and tail trimming
- Batch trim voiceover takes or podcast segments
Frequently asked questions
What does the threshold control?
The threshold sets the level below which audio is considered silence. A lower threshold (e.g. -60 dB) only trims true silence, while a higher threshold (e.g. -30 dB) will also remove very quiet sections.
What does padding do?
Padding adds a small amount of time (in milliseconds) before and after the detected audio content. This preserves natural attack and release characteristics.
Can I trim multiple files at once?
Yes. Drop as many files as you need — the tool batch processes them all with the same threshold and padding settings.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing runs in your browser using the Web Audio API. No files leave your machine.
